I provide copy editing, proofreading, and sensitivity reading for your book. These are large projects and require a quote from me to ascertain your needs and desires.
Sensitivity Reading
Avoid unconscious bias in your writing when it includes topics and characters from African American culture. I make sure you don’t make any missteps before publishing.

Hi, I’m Chrissy, an Editor from Texas.
By day, I’m a digital editor for Stars & Stripes, a military-focused newspaper. Previous day job experience includes editing for a small wire service that syndicated opinion columns and cartoons, lifestyles (health, home, food, travel) content. After hours, I’m a freelancer who writes and/or edits blogs, newsletters, a neighborhood magazine, and web copy.
I enjoy working on large projects in collaboration with people doing meaningful work. I love taking your raw genius and turning it into writing that shines.
In my spare time, you can find me traveling, reading five books at a time (those three bookclubs are demanding), and perfecting a New Orleans, red beans and rice recipe (don’t tell my mother, she thinks the existing recipe is perfection). I’m an introvert that loves adventure and enjoys working and traveling all over the world.
My process
I work in a collaborative manner that ensures that you love the outcome. The beginning of our process starts with a lot of listening and understanding so that you know exactly what you are getting. Then we agree on a timeline and get everything in writing ensuring that we are on the same page with our expectations.
1. DISCOVERY
Schedule an appointment with me to decide the specifics of how I can help you with your project.
2. AGREEMENT
Once we are clear on the exact bundle of services that you need for your project, we get everything in writing and sign an agreement. This ensures we are always on the same page.
3. DELIVERY
During this phase of the process, I get to work! I deliver on all of the work in our written agreement according to the mutually agreed-upon timeline.
4. DELIGHT
Our project is finished when you, my client, are happy with the outcome. I'm not happy until you are happy. Everything completed within the scope of the written agreement receives your final approval.
5. PUBLISH!
Your content is now ready to be published!
If you have other editors working on your content, then the publishing readiness is a coordinated effort. The criteria for being complete are clearly described in the agreement.
